Cannabis culture has grown exponentially over the past few years. Hemp oil and cannabidiol (CBD) oil are arguably the two biggest products in this market. Since both come from the same plant, CBD oil is often confused with hemp oil. Both oils have health properties.

If you are new to CBD, knowing the difference between hemp oil and CBD oil is vitally important. The purpose of this article is to educate you on the difference between CBD oil and hemp oil.

What is CBD?

CBD is a natural component of the cannabis sativa plant. It is one of over 100 cannabinoids found in cannabis. Studies show that it can combat a wide array of medical problems.

Hemp is a variety of the cannabis plant. Most CBD products on the market today are made from hemp. While hemp has a low level of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), it is rich in CBD.

What is CBD Oil?

CBD oil is gotten from the flowers, leaves, and stalks of the hemp plant. On the other hand, hemp oil comes from the seed of the plant. Hemp strains with high levels of CBD levels are chosen to make CBD products to maximize the potency.

CBD oil has become very popular in the medical cannabis industry. It aids in the treatment of various conditions without any intoxicating effects. Some of the conditions that CBD has been found to be effective in treating include anxiety, depression, inflammatory disorders, seizures, and neurodegenerative disorders.

CBD oil will not get you high because it does not contain a high level of THC. Instead, CBD improves homeostasis.

What is Hemp Seed Oil?

As indicated above, hemp oil is derived from the seeds of the hemp plant. Do you know that hemp oil is great for cooking and is full of nutrients? Yes, it’s true. It adds a crispy and nutty taste to your foods. You can use it as a replacement for olive oil in salads. After you shower, you can even use it as a natural moisturizer.

Hemp oil can also be used as the base for different forms of plastic, instead of petroleum. It is used in the production of paints because it is eco-friendly compared to petroleum-based paints. It can also be used as bio-diesel fuel like other vegetable oils. It is even used for making lotions and soaps.

Hemp oil is rich in omega-6 and omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids. It is the only edible oil that contains over 80% polyunsaturated essential fatty acids. Another benefit of hemp oil is its high levels of vitamin E which has antioxidant properties.

Hemp oil and CBD oil are fundamentally different. Hemp oil contains CBD, but at a low concentration level compared to pure CBD oil.
